To replace the Café bike on the trail, I built up this lugged KHS, with the disc wheels converted to fixie use with a Boone disc cog. I switched the old Stronglight crank over from the Café Scorcher so that I could use the 30/16 gear combo, and it’s pretty rideable for a slow old guy, like me.
Original paint, with the decals removed and the fork painted black with chrome tips left showing. The handlebar is an On-One Mungo, which I used because I like the bar on the Café Scorcher so much. This gives me a very similar position, at about a third of the weight of the old steel bar.
The whole bike weighs in at 25 pounds, which is an acceptable weight to me. I could have lighter, but not for the price.
